LOCAL EVENTS

The past couple of days we have had one shark attack at the beaches a day. One female vistor (age 35) from Ohio, she fought off the shark, and one teenage boy (age 13) from Hickory NC, who pulled himself to shore. He says his Boy Scout training (remain calm) helped him. I was a scout but I missed that class.."Remain calm when a shark is attached to your leg." Both injuries were minor, so to speak. What was strange about these attacks is that they happened in the middle of the day. Most happen early morning or at dusk during feeding times. These attacks off of NC are not rare per say, but the time of day has everyone stumped...It was lunch time however which could explain it..
