So what constitutes a 'sound' anyway? We have the Long Island Sound up here ... I've often wondered about this.

The sound and its ocean inlets are noted for wide expanses of shallow water and occasional shoaling, making the area hazardous for larger vessels.
PAMLICO SOUND IS THE LARGEST ON THE EAST COAST. It is like a lagoon.
