This is a Painting of Devil's Den. It is located in Gettysburg Pa. The actual position lies just below Little Round Top. I have actually walked this very ground, climbed the rocks in the back-ground, and knew the very spots where many a man had actually fallen and died. This is one of the most holy and peaceful places I have ever walked. I can't explain what comes over me on the many sites I have walked but this one is so special to me.  Posted by Picasa

I have been there and had the same feeling.
Been to lots of battle fields. Hubby loves history. Also loved the Alamo.

Ed's been wanting to go to
Gettysburg for quite some time now. The thing that keeps me from going is a concern about too much walking (which my legs can't handle). Is it the type of situation where you have to park a mile and a half away and walk forever? I know it sounds lame (no pun intended) but I do have a situation with one of my legs.

I fill with emotion at many historic sites... some not even battlegrounds. I think we either "have" that in us, or not. I'm kinda glad I do!

Carol..Do make the trip. They have windshield tours that you don't have to get out of your cars. They have shuttles with guides and they had indoor arenas with electronic maps. Parking areas are close enough you don't have to walk far. Do bring field glasses though. Early fall is a great time to visit or in spring..Summers are hot and winters are cold. Mo (at Yorktown)would sit in the car sometimes as I walked the fields and she had the glasses. I will put a post with an explanation of other sites that also have that effect...

Excellent advice. I'll have to look into it further - but will do so soon. We're always looking to take a long weekend trip in Springtime. Thanks so much for getting back to me on this!

So moving you find yourself speechless as you walk amongst the sites.
