WE'VE ADDED SOMETHING NEW TO SOCCER

  Today is make-up day. Sunday Soccer at it's worse. The boys are out playing soccer now and are losing. It is COLD, WET and WINDY for their game. I did not go today because I feel asleep when I got home from church. You've all had one of those sermons haven't you? I got to church around 7 A.M. but didn't leave until 11:30 A.M. Now that is a sermon! Actually I was helping with Divine Mercy Sunday Prayers. It is a new prayer form so to speak. We had Mass in-between the TWO Divine Mercy Services. Think of it as a nine day Novena in one day, but we did it twice...thus the long nap afterward. Now I have to get ready for Prayer Meeting tonight...and you ask why I am not at the Soccer Match!

BROKEN LENS

  How not to spend Easter Saturday. Has anyone noticed how many special tools are now required to change out a simple broken headlight lens? I came off a road trip to find my headlight lens was missing. It seems the glue isn't lifetime warranted. Can you just get a new lense? NO! I had to buy the whole crash assembly, which cost around $218.00 plus tax. It also requires that you remove "multiple parts", special tools, and the wire harness to get it out. Well kiss one Saturday goodbye! You need tiny hands too which I do not have. I need a bike...

  My daughter says I sound like a Marine DI when I go to the boys games. I think she has forgotten what I did for half my life. As long as the boys smile when I encourage them to a higher level of performance, I will continue. As for the people it upsets, "GET A LIFE!"

I BET THAT LOW BALL HURT!

  For those unfamiliar with American Baseball, the Little League, these pictures are from the team try-outs by age groups. Jake belonged to a team, but because of his knee injury, he missed a whole season and must again go back into the pool and be picked by any team. This is difficult for us as his brother Justin is already assigned to Jake's old team. If another coach wants him and has a higher draft position, then Jake must play for that team. (Two practices, different times) you get the Logistics of that. TODAY..Jake and Justin have a soccer game about 50 miles from here. The problem is Jake also has to go back to the baseball field for his final day of try-outs. The baseball coaches also want the twins to sign up for football season again during baseball tryouts. They want me to sign my Football Coaches card also. As you can tell by the photos I actually was on the field taking pictures. Most people in sports know that I take pictures and I have been offered jobs to take team pictures. I like taking action shots instead of stills but I don't have the time to visit every team. I will stick to the grandpa thing and concentrate on the family thingy. Oh Crap! does that mean I also have to go to Greenville for Delaney's First Soccer Match? I'm screwed!

It is now Sports Weekend

  Friday and Saturday it was Basketball, but today it was Soccer in another town. Jake was injured and how to sit out a couple of plays but he got back into the game. It was a tie game 3/3. At this age group we do not have Shoot-outs. It was a good game for both team but I swear the ten year olds from the other team needed a shave. I also think they drove to the game themselves....

  I can't be everywhere. The Twins had two soccer games scheduled today and a basketball tournament at the same time. Delaney had her first soccer game scheduled also. Tara wants me to come to Greenville and Sheila wants me to stay home for the boys...All to take pictures of course. Well Delaney's game is cancelled because of rain, as is the boys...but the basketball tournament is still going ahead as scheduled. Riley hasn't put any demands on me so I'll take Grandma to visit her. Hopefully I'll be back in time for basketball. It is really a bad storm outside.

HERE IS THE RUB...Saturday they have a Basketball Tournament, and two Soccer games, all on the same day. They also have to go through Baseball tryouts soon. I also know that Delaney has been signed up for Soccor and her game is the same day but in another town. I need to Bi-Locate. The MN basketball games are photographed by my eldest daughter and posted on another Blog....She is so like me and celebrates her birthday tomorrow...She probably thinks I forgot...Happy BD Meg.

THE THINGS WE DO FOR LOVE

  I received a phone call last night from my daughter. She asked me to fill in as Soccor Coach for the twin's team. I asked the usual "I don't want to do it" questions to no avail. It was only for an hour. Wasn't this the same girl who told me to stop yelling at this team's game last Saturday? Now she wants me to coach them??? Needless to say they are all emotionally scared for life. Do the math..Former Marine, Former Goalie, hates losing at anything....My grandsons say I have to be gentle because this is Futball not Football. It quickly went to a higher level of soccor...The result..Kids had more fun. They like competition and contact sports. One lil one did throw a temper tantrum and went off to sulk..that was received well by the other boys. He did come back when he found out no one begged him to come back. His dad wasn't too happy but I'm sure it was discussed later. If you join a team to play a sport...then play. Coaches are not babysitters. Teams win, Teams lose...that's life! Deal with it.
